Best of you

50. "The best of you during the 'Period of Ignorance' are the best of you in Islam as long as they deeply understand the religion." [Bukhâri]

Quotes to remember

8. Bilal ibn Sa’d radiAllahu `anhu (ra) said, “If you see a disputing, arrogant, and bigoted person, bear in mind that they are utterly lost.”

Salafs sayings

Abu ad-Dardaa narrated [Saheeh Muslim, No.6588]: The Messenger of Allaah said: «No believing servant supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence), except that the Angels say: "The same be for you too".»
al-Imaam an-Nawawee comments [Riyaadh as-Saaliheen #1494]: This hadeeth makes it evident that one who prays for someone in his absence also stands to benefit from it because the angel appointed for the task of praying for those who pray for others will pray for him, saying, "O Allaah! Grant him also the same which he has asked for others".

The stages in seeking knowledge

Question:

Noble Shaykh, what issues should a student of knowledge focus upon, should he begin with the books of 'Aqeedah?
Answer:

He should begin with that which is easiest step by step, he should begin with the small treatises and study them with the Mashaykh, then gradually advance to more extensive books and like this he continues.
He does not go to the major extensive books from the beginning, rather he should progress to them little by little, graduating step by step.

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan
Silsilatu sharhir-Rasail, p117.
