Best of you

3. "The best of people are those that bring most benefit to the rest of mankind." [Dâraqutni, Hasan]

Quotes to remember

10. `Umar (ra) said, “Do not learn knowledge for three things and do not leave it for three things. Do not learn it to dispute over it, to show off with it, or to boast about it. Do not leave seeking it out of shyness, dislike for it, or contending with ignorance in its stead.”

Salafs sayings

It is reported that Imām Al-Zuhrī – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

Those of our scholars who went before us used to say,”Adherence to the Sunnah is salvation, but knowledge is taken away quickly, so the revival of knowledge means the stability of religion and worldly affairs, and the loss of knowledge means the loss of all that.”

Taking Something that has Allaah's Name Written to the Washroom

Question:

I have a small book that I always keep in my pocket, and in it are written invocations and supplications, of the kind that is beneficial both for this world and the Hereafter. When I enter the washroom to make ablution or to relieve myself, I take this book with me; is there a sin upon me for this?
Answer:

It's better not to take something that has statements of remembrance written on it to where one relieves himself. It is disliked by a group of the people of knowledge if it is possible to avoid taking it there. When it is not possible to leave it outside the washroom, then there is no harm on you, and it is not considered disliked. And Allaah is the Granter of Success.
