Quotes to remember

10. `Umar (ra) said, “Do not learn knowledge for three things and do not leave it for three things. Do not learn it to dispute over it, to show off with it, or to boast about it. Do not leave seeking it out of shyness, dislike for it, or contending with ignorance in its stead.”

Salafs sayings

Quote: "A man will never fear something besides Allah unless it be due to a disease in his heart."

Whatever the Latecomer caught of the Prayer with the Imam is the Beginning of his Prayer

Question:

If a man began to pray with the Imam, but he missed two of a four-Rakah prayer, should he make his intention to pray the last two Rakahs on the basis that they are the first two for him? Or, should he pray them and then make up what he has missed, with the intention that they are the first two Rakahs for him.
Answer:

The correct view is that what he catches of the prayer with the Imam is the beginning of his prayer and what he makes up is the end of his prayer. So if he catches two Rakahs form the Zuhr prayer, and he is able to recite Surah Al-Fatihah and another Surah with the Imam; and if the Imam makes the Taslim, he should stand up and make up what he has missed. Then he should only recite Al-Fatihah, because he is making up the end of the prayer, according to the words of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam): And whatever you catch of the prayer, pray it, then whatever you missed, complete it.
