Best of you

9. "The best of women are those that please you when you see them, obey you when commanded, and who safeguard themselves and your money in your absence." [Tabarâni, Sahîh]

Quotes to remember

10. `Umar (ra) said, “Do not learn knowledge for three things and do not leave it for three things. Do not learn it to dispute over it, to show off with it, or to boast about it. Do not leave seeking it out of shyness, dislike for it, or contending with ignorance in its stead.”

Salafs sayings

It is reported that Imām Al-Zuhrī – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

Those of our scholars who went before us used to say,”Adherence to the Sunnah is salvation, but knowledge is taken away quickly, so the revival of knowledge means the stability of religion and worldly affairs, and the loss of knowledge means the loss of all that.”

The ruling on selling Gold before receiving its price

Question:

What is the ruling on giving gold before receiving its price? And what if the person who wants it is a relative and one fears from severing the family ties with him, even though I know quite well that he will pay its price, even if it is after some time?
Answer:

It is obligatory for you to know the general principle that selling gold for cash is never permissible unless the price is received in full. There is no difference in this between the relative and the stranger, because the religion of Allah gives no preferential treatment to anyone. If the relative becomes angry with you due to your obedience of Allah, then let him be angry. For verily, he is the wrongdoing sinner who wants you to fall into disobedience of Allah. In reality, you have done an act of righteousness by prohibiting him from dealing with you in this forbidden transaction. Therefore, if he becomes angry of cuts you off due to this, then he is the sinner and no portion of his sin on you.
